With at least a dual core processor and Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate, you can use XP mode as well if you have to get to those older DX8 things. Sounds more like a faulty driver or a Malware issue. or if there is a memory leak, it doesn't make itself present in Windows 7, at least not after 10 hours of constant gaming. but memory leaks are not an issue with the OS.Īnd memory leaks are not an issue in STO. Sure Windows 7 has its issues, like the lack of DLLs for correct operation of MS C++ 6.0 programs and the issues with the emulation of programs written under DirectX 8 and older (9 and higher are native in Windows 7). People claiming Windows 7 OS being the problem obviously have no clue to PCs or how to maintain them. those are notorious for having memory leaks, especially Torrent engines. I would recommend looking at your drivers and software, and maybe use one of the free online scanners like Trend Micro's Housecalls or Panda Anti-Virus has to see if you have something.Ĭheck your programs running in the background. absolutely no lagging, glitching, rubberbanding, and definately no CTD, lockups, BSODs, or anything of that nature. It has been 15 days since my last reboot I have played STO 2 and 1/2 hours per night. the only time my computer shuts down is when there is an electrical storm or unless threre is a Windows Update that requires me to reboot. Intel Core 2 2.66 GHZ, 4 GB Patriot Extreme gaming memory, NVidia 8800 GTX OC2, with a 1000 W Ultra PSU. now am running the full version of Windows 7 圆4 Ultimate. I also have either Teamspeak 2, Teamspeak 3, or Ventrillo running in background with Windows Live Messenger and IE 8. so not only am I rendering the game for 6 to 10 hours, I am also watching a movie in a window at the corner of my screen while I am playing. I even run Media Player on top of the game in a corner playing a 1080i HD MVK video of a Star Trek movie when I am playing, or TOS episodes, or TNG, etc. I can run STO for 6 to 10 hours streight on the weekends. 10x more stable than XP, better memory management, 0 memory leaks in the OS (unlike XP / Vista). Maybe it is because you are using Windows 7, which was certainly not my idea! I play for hours on Saturdays and never have performance problems. ![]()
